passive audience meaning :
an audience that is exposed to media/marketing material but doesn't actively engage with the content or messaging



active audience meaning :
an active audience engages,interprets  and responds to a media text in different ways  and is capable of challenging the ideas encoded in it. 

hypodermic needle theory:
It's a theory of mass communication stating that media are able to influence audience opinion through the messages that reach individuals personally
